Company History

what

Fracture Community Theatre began back in 2004, when the artistic director Matthew Campbell began a dance group named ‘tribal fusion’. This was the beginning of the long journey to what we now know as fracture theatre.

Tribal fusion, known by many of Stockton’s residents was a key part of Stockton’s International Riverside Festival (SIRF). This group created pieces that amazed the crowds with their energetic routines and gained a lot of supporters and followers from their wild performance.

Although this was a popular form of performance, we decided that we needed to have a static piece that could be enjoyed by more audiences. This was when we made the decision to move away from the ‘dance company’ persona, and change to a theatre company.

In January 2008, we became known as fracture theatre company this gave us scope to be able to create more work with more individuals and many different communities. We were part of SIRF again and had done two summer programs.

Now here we are in 2009, and what a mad few years it has been…. Watch this space for more!
