Artistic Policy

Mission Statement
Our mission is to give people in Tees Valley the opportunity to see, participate in and learn from theatre activities. We want everyone to have access to great theatre experiences, which are both empowering and inclusive. We want to create new theatre, build relationships with communities and make Tees Valley a better place to live. 

Artistic values
Fracture Theatre is defined by its artistic and education work. It is at the heart of what the theatre is and what it does. Fracture’s work should be new and exciting, but always embody the same core values. 

1. Resonant – to provoke ideas, thoughts, questions about yourself and the world
2. Engaging – to stir your emotions & imagination
3. Fun, exciting & entertaining – serious purpose, but with an aesthetic value too.
4. New – to strive to be original, through the creation of new work and collaboration with various artists

1. To increase the profile, status and success of Fracture’s original new work
2. To bring to life a wide range of material that is ripe for adaptation, and connects audiences to productions
3. To be a creative enterprise in the UK in developing new plays/shows
4. To continue to develop collaborations within the theatre industry, to help build Fracture’s profile nationally and extend its creative practice
5. To develop a series of high-profile collaborations with organisations and companies from other art-forms, including museums & galleries
6. To ensure that high-quality work by communities, and work in which communities take part, are woven into the artistic programme
7. To offer a range of free, open-to-all events and family days that promote Fracture as a community-friendly, welcoming company to visit
8. To consider opportunities for touring work, to raise Fracture’s profile
9. To become a model of excellence and innovation in making Fracture’s work accessible to as wide an audience as possible
