Fracture Theatre is an innovative theatre company based in Tees Valley. The unique quality of this group is that it works with whole variety of people to create performance, not just actors, dancers and singers; we take ‘average joe’ and help them to create performance and feel comfortable with using theatre as a tool for self improvement, personal development and most importantly to have fun.
Fracture is divided into three parts each of which play an equally vital role in the operation of the company:
The Core is the central point of the company, including 5 long-standing performers, the creative director, 2 choreographers and an assistant director. The Core is responsible for creating the summer performances and our work with Stockton International Riverside Festival every year. The Core also performs regularly as professional artists within the Tees Valley and across the UK.
The Company are the participants of the yearly activities that the core leads. Every year the company changes, as does the style of work we do. We see the company as the next generation of professional performers, and we expect a lot from them. Many past company members are at some of the UK’s best stage schools.
Finally The Education Team is responsible for our work in schools, colleges and different community settings throughout the whole year. These community projects can be anything from a term of dance classes in a school to a full project and show with a community group. The Creative director is also project manager for two other organisations that run alongside fracture.
Fracture is a lead organisation which also runs two other groups: The Street Dance Academy & Tees Valley Youth Theatre. Both of which interact with different communities around the Tees Valley.
Tees Valley Youth Theatre will be based in Middlesbrough and Billingham, delivering arts and theatre training and with an emphasis on personal development.
The Street Dance Academy is an intergenerational dance program which helps people train in street dance regardless of age. Both organisations work with the same creative team as fracture theatre and are developing at a steady rate.
